Due to a recent HDB (Housing Development Board) lift upgrading program, my flat finally finally got to enjoy direct access to a lift on every floor. Because of this increased accessibility, it gave me this unique opportunity of understanding the residents of my block better through looking at their doorsteps – a very intimate space in my humble opinion. One can tell so much about the family staying within through the shoes, potted plants, decorations etc, something I hadn’t realised despite residing here for more than two decades.
